Here’s how to recreate Amal Clooney’s MET Gala make-up

Here’s how to recreate Amal Clooney’s MET Gala make-up

Amal and George Clooney were some of the first stars to arrive at the MET Gala in Manhattan on Monday night. They were joined by some of the world’s top celebrities at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the extravagant, annual fashion exhibition. This year’s theme was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’, examining the relationship between fashion and Catholicism.

While George is one of the most handsome men in Hollywood, our eyes were focused solely on his wife. The human rights lawyer appeared graceful and elegant on the not-so-red carpet; wearing a silver bustier, dark trousers and a full-bodied floral train. With so much detail in her outfit, Amal kept her make-up classic and simple. Her make-up artist on the night, Charlotte Tilbury, revealed the exact products she used to create the look, and while we’ve listed them below, we’ve also included some alternative products to achieve the look at home.

Eyes

First, Charlotte Tilbury used Eyes to Mesmerise in shade Marie Antoinette, €26. This gold-toned cream eyeshadow is packed with Vitamin E to keep the eyelids hydrated all night long. The make-up artist also used a dusting of powder eyeshadow in shades Prime and Pop from the Exagger-eyes Palette, €50.

A similar look can be created using Max Factor Masterpiece Nude Palette Contouring Eyeshadows, €21.49. Shades 01 Cappuccino Nudes are perfect for warm skin-tones like Amal’s, while rose and golden nudes are also available for lighter and darker skin tones.

Amal wore Charlotte Tilbury’s Classic Eyeliner in the shade Audrey, €22. The soft, brown pencil creates a sultry smokey-eye; perfect for evening wear.

Alternatively, the Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Powder Eye Pencil, €21, can create a long-lasting, soft finish.

Skin

Charlotte Tilbury used a combination of the Light Wonder Foundation, €42 in shades six and seven. The lightweight formula reduces the appearance of pores while keeping the skin moisturised. She then applied Hollywood Beauty Light Wand, €35, to highlight. It contains light-reflecting particles for a natural glow, with none of the glitter.

If you’d rather create the look on a budget, Rimmel London Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation, €11.50, is a great alternative. It has up to 25 hours lasting coverage without clogging your pores. Pair it with the bronze and highlight from Rimmel London Sculpting Palette by Kate, €8.99.

Lips

Charlotte Tilbury used her own Hollywood Lips in Walk of Fame, €32; a liquid matte lipstick with orangey red hues.

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick

It’s currently sold out online, so swap it out for Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment in Don’t Stop, €26. Its formula is smudge-proof and long-lasting; so it’ll still be there after a long night on the town.
