Weekend Guide: From flea markets to live ballet, here’s what happening around Dublin this weekend

Making plans for the weekend ahead? We’ve rounded up some of the best events taking place across the capital over the next couple of days.

It’s safe to say that the cold snap has officially set in, and though you may feel tempted to stay curled up on the couch this weekend, there are plenty of incredible events happening throughout the city that might just lure you out of those pyjamas.

The Useless Project Flea Market @ The Workmans Club

Saturday 19 November, The Workmans Club, 10 Wellington Quay, Temple Bar

The Useless Project are hosting their biggest flea market to date on Saturday afternoon, taking over all three floors of The Workmans Club! The perfect opportunity to get some sustainable Christmas gifting sorted early, this flea market is bringing together over 50 stalls selling everything from vintage fashion and homeware, to art, natural cosmetics, crafts, sustainable household goods and a whole lot more.

A Very Latin American Xmas Market 2022

Saturday 19 November, Richmond Barracks Saint Michael’s Estate

The Venezuelan Community in Ireland is hosting their very own Christmas market dedicated to bringing people together from different Latin and Irish communities, while offering a space to try new delicious food, music, dance performances, and discover handcrafted goods from the Latin American community. Inviting those attending to bring a toy along to be donated to a local charity, this project is committed to supporting children in need in Venezuela.

Closing night of Nutcracker Sweeties at The Gaiety Theatre

Saturday 19 November, The Gaiety Theatre, King Street South

Ballet Ireland’s Nutcracker Sweeties is a re-telling of one of the world’s favourite Christmas ballets, telling the tale of a brother and sister on a magical Christmas Eve. Ciara and Fionn are on a shopping trip to a famous department store in Dublin. They wander off from their parents and are rescued by the Nutcracker doll, who comes to life before they are surrounded by a glorious blizzard of snowflakes.The Sugar Plum fairy greets them leading Ciara into the kingdom of the sweets where the beautiful Christmas windows come to life.

C’Mere ‘Til I Tell Ye Festival

A new festival taking place across Dublin as part of Science Week 2022, C’Mere ‘Til I Tell Ye features a lineup of stunning events in comfortable and cool surroundings where public guests will be informed and entertained through engaging and thought-provoking shows, discussions and demonstrations. Events include a Pick Your Brain Quiz, DRAG me to the lab, The Chemistry of Cosmetics, and Miasma by Colin Murphy. Find more information here.
