Brandon Ledwidge murder suspect presents himself to gardaí as victim’s family warned to move out
The chief suspect for the murder of gangland victim Brandon Ledwidge has presented himself to gardaí for questioning, but will have to wait before he is formally interviewed. Ledwidge (23) was shot dead after he answered the door of his home in Finglas, Dublin, on November 18. The chief suspect, once a close associate of Ledwidge, walked into a Dublin garda station in recent days and told officers: “I hear you’re looking for me.” Ledwidge’s family have been warned by his former associates to leave their home in Finglas or risk being targeted. Two crime gangs controlling the drugs trade in the area have made threats against innocent members of Ledwidge’s family in recent days, telling them: “You can have your funeral, but you’re out after that.”

Court rejects appeal by Cork mother who harassed doctor
The Court of Appeal has rejected a bid by a mother to set aside her plea of guilty to the repeated harassment of a doctor who was working at the hospital where her son was awaiting a kidney transplant. Marlies Walsh, representing herself at the three-judge court, argued that she was given ineffective assistance by her lawyers and was under duress when she entered the guilty plea as she had to prioritise her son’s care. She also argued that the investigation into her offending was flawed because no recording was made of an interview she gave to gardaí.
