We’ve found the perfect SPF: It’s quick-drying, lightweight and moisturising

Call off the search! We finally found an everyday SPF that works with our skincare and beauty routine and helps protect against blue light.

As the weather warms, SPF is becoming an essential step in our skincare routine. In fact, dermatologists recommend it regardless of rain or shine, as UV exposure is present year round, even when it’s overcast outside. Some SPFs can even help protect against the harmful blue light shone from our phones, tablets and laptops.

The effects of skin ageing are dramatically accelerated by the sun’s invisible rays, also known as ultraviolet rays (UV). There are two types of ultraviolet rays: UVB (responsible for sunburn) and UVA (responsible for ageing). Some SPFs can even protect skin from the harmful blue light shone from our phones, tablets and laptops.

UVA rays are more abundant and they penetrate deeper into the skin, disrupting your natural stores of collagen and elastin. This can lead to hyper-pigmentation and, in some cases, irreversible skin damage and the development of harmful melanomas.

“SPF is the most important part of any skincare routine,” says Consultant dermatologist Dr Niki Ralph. “It is the best anti-ageing product you will ever use.”

But finding a SPF that works well with our skincare and beauty routine isn’t easy. Traditionally, formulations have been thick and pasty – not exactly pleasant to apply and definitely not the most ideal to sit under your makeup.

That is why it is important to look for a lightweight, quick-drying and moisturising SPF with a non-comedogenic formula (doesn’t block pores) that’s suitable for your skin type.

Also, to protect against blue light, you’ll be looking for titanium oxide, which can be found in La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid SPF50+ – a broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection that is ultra lightweight with an invisible finish.

A flawless finish for everyday use

Anthelios Invisible Fluid has a hydrating, ultra-resistant and hypoallergenic formula, with clinically proven efficacy and suitable for sensitive skin.

The minimalist formula is water, sweat and sand resistant and its non-greasy, fluid texture glides on the skin without leaving a white residue behind. The invisible finish makes it the perfect final step before applying make-up.

Also, the daily sun protection is much loved for its high UVA/UVB protection, its airy feel (allowing smooth foundation application) and its compatibility with all skin types.

The key to its success is the Invisible fluid’s intelligent polymer technology (oil and UV filters with micro-crystallised structures), which makes the formula light, long lasting and protective. The recommended dose is one teaspoon or two finger lengths, and it should be re-applied frequently to maintain protection.

Dermatologist-recommended sun care

One of the first things you should check in your SPF is that it’s dermatologist-recommended. The Invisible Fluid, along with the entire La Roche-Posay Anthelios range, is recommended by dermatologists worldwide* and its efficacy has been proven in over 70 clinical studies and publications.

And, while the Invisible Fluid is a great universal SPF, the sun care range has other tailor-made sunscreens designed for specific skin types.

For those with more of an oily complexion suffering from blemishes, Anthelios Anti-Imperfection SPF50+ offers the same protection as the Invisible Fluid but in a soothing gel cream texture that has been specifically designed for oily skin and is enriched with salicylic acid.

Those with dry skin could try Anthelios Hydrating Cream SPF 50+. Again, it gives the same protection but in a more hydrating cream formula.

Overall, the Invisible Fluid is an SPF, anti-ageing must-have, giving us the sun protection we need, all while sitting perfectly under our make-up.
