Cat eye frames or tinted lenses, Irish made or designer investments, here are the shades we’re wearing this summer.

I’ve never been one for expensive sunglasses – I’m too afraid that I’ll lose them! However, for the past two years, I have managed to keep hold of a cat eye pair I love from & Other Stories. They’re very similar to this pair, except the green is a little lighter and more transparent. When I spotted them in the shop, I thought the cat eye shape might be too dramatic, but once I tried them on, I found they were just the right balance between fun and chic. Fingers crossed, I continue to keep track of them for a while yet.

I have a favourite pair of small sunnies, but I’m going away to Spain and wanted a larger pair that has more sun protection. I’ve had my eye on these cat eye ones from ASOS. They’re still a fun shape but will help protect against glare at the beach. Also, I always opt for brown over black as I find it a softer contrast with my paler complexion.

Whether it be a cloudy, overcast day in the middle of winter, or a sun-blinding summer’s day, you are guaranteed to see me in a pair of sunglasses.
This year, I am loving these MAiE Atelier sunnies from the Aurora Collection. I bought the Olive Green pair and I loved them so much that I had to buy my sister the black pair, which are completed with a very chic ombre brown lens. The packaging and case these come in are also spectacular and so luxe.
You cannot go wrong with a pair of Ray-Bans. These aviator-style beauties match every single outfit. Then my wishlist sunglasses are this Gucci pair, but I need to try them on first before buying. They are an investment, so they have to suit my face shape first.

When I was away on holidays last year, I picked up a new pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses in the style Erik. They come in a few different colourways, but I went for the gorgeous polished Havana frame with brown lenses. They are the perfect pair of staple sunnies! However, festival season is in full swing, and I may have my eye on a couple of pairs from MAiE Atelier for Electric Picnic. The Kesh are calling my name along with the Azrou. They are so fun and cool and perfect.

Despite my penchant for losing things, I have managed to hold onto my favourite sunglasses for years – a second-hand pair of Angular Cat Eye sunglasses from & Other Stories in tortoise print. You really can’t go wrong with tortoise, so I have my eye on a pair of Azrou sunglasses from MAiE. There’s so much hype around this brand right now and I do need a darker frame to switch it up, so these will definitely be my next purchase!

I’m actually in the market for a new pair of sunglasses this summer, and I’ve had my eye (pardon the pun!) on Irish brand MAiE Atelier for a while. I will definitely be investing in a pair, but I’m so torn between the Kesh rectangle sunglasses in honey brown and the Aurora sunnies in icy blue, both of which are so chic and unique. I’ll have to toss a coin!

Listen, I would love to look you in the eye and say I trust myself enough to spend €300 on these insanely cool Vivienne Westwood shades with the devil horn detailing, but the fact of the matter is that my last two pairs of sunglasses disappeared under dubious circumstances. By which I mean I left one pair in a pub and another pair fell off my head as I was dashing across the road and promptly got run over. May they rest in peace. Or in pieces, as the case may be.
& Other Stories is a real go-to for sunnies, and how cool are these purple aviators? And because the world is so crap of late, I think it would be nice to make rose-tinted glasses a permanent fixture. This pair is in my basket as we speak.
Speaking aspirationally and maybe a little delusionally, I would like the record to show that I also love this Prada pair. If a girl were prone to manifesting and thought the Universe might be listening, she would say she promises to take good care of them. But we both know she would be lying.
