Our Foundation of Choice This Summer

Our Foundation of Choice This Summer

‘Sun is shining, weather is sweet’, is exactly what Bob Marley would say on a day like this. What this reggae legend might not have been concerned with, however, is the idea of switching from your winter foundation to your lighter spring/summer base. As the days become longer, and the temperature rises (sort of), our foundation needs will change too; we just don’t require as much heaviness or coverage as we did back in December and if your office becomes a bit sticky like ours does, you won’t fancy the idea of sweating through a thick layer of your nearest bottle of beige-coloured Polly-filla. With that in mind, this month we’re looking to the lighter options on the market.

We’ve tried and tested foundations aplenty, but there’s one that’s really set our pulses racing this season: Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua – Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting foundation with SPF 15.

It’s light, but it’s not watery. It’s hydrating without feeling wet. It adequately covers what you need covered, but it’s far from cakey. Best of all, it provides you with that elusive, healthy, ‘where have you been or who are you sleeping with?’ glow that you’d quite probably spend hundreds to achieve.

With just a pea-sized amount of this hybrid fluid base, you’ve freshened up your look with relative ease. It enhances your natural complexion rather than drastically changing it. Come to think of it, it’s exactly what you want in a foundation.

Top marks for Chanel. €39.50.

Looking for something to pair it with? Try Soleil Tan de Chanel, their velvety bronzing cream for an extra sunkissed look. €38.50.
