David Beckham Refuses To Cut Daughter Harper’s Hair

David Beckham Refuses To Cut Daughter Harper’s Hair

Devoted family man and sporting legend David Beckham is being met with a few metaphorically raised eyebrows following his comments in a recent interview that he has so far, refused to let wife Victoria cut his daughter Harper’s hair. For a man known for his changeable trendy dos’ over the years, he said that even though his only daughter is four, he still doesn’t want her locks cut at all.

“About a year ago, my wife said, ‘Maybe we should cut Harper’s hair.’ And I was like, ‘No! We need to grow it. Do. Not. Touch,'” he told Yahoo. “Since she was born, we haven’t cut it. That’s why it’s pretty much down to her knees.” In response, the interviewer said: “You saved Harper’s hair!” to which Beckham replied: “I had to. It’s just so good, isn’t it?”

The teeny tots hair and general stylish ensembles have received a lot of love from the online masses over the years, and it isn’t uncommon for parents to refrain from touching their little one’s locks, yet some websites have described Beckham’s decision as ?creepy.? There’s nothing wrong whatsoever with keeping your daughter’s hair long, provided she’s happy, and her scalp is cared for.

He didn’t go into much detail as to why he didn’t want to go near her hair but added that if the time came, he wouldn’t be the one holding the scissors.

“I do cut my sons? hair from time to time. When they have a buzz cut, I do it,” he says. “If I have to use scissors, the boys know not to ask – [my mother] never taught me how to do that.”

ICYMI: David Beckham Might Just Be The Best Celebrity Dad Ever

It seems the Beckhams aren’t the only ones opting out of kiddie cuts – and not only the parents of little girls are doing so. Back in May, The New York Times reported that more and more parents are letting their sons’ hair grow past the typical short length we’re used to seeing on little boys – some to the shoulders, others long enough to be pulled back into mini man buns. For the parents interviewed in the article, this is not meant to make a statement other than they like their children to be as individual as they want. Expressing a similar sentiment to Beckham, one mother said, ?We just think he looks adorable. We can’t bring ourselves to cut it.?

He added that he had ?a special bond? with his youngest daughter (remember that second?tattoo he got in her honour?) and that he had ?no power? when it came enforcing strict parental rules with her.

Do you get similarly attached to your children’s hair?
