From bold Aussie reds to crisp Portuguese pours and trend-led rosés, SuperValu’s Meet the Makers wine tasting events at Taste of Dublin bring festival goers face-to-face with world-class wine experts for an intimate tasting experience worth raising a glass to.

At this year’s Taste of Dublin, wine takes centre stage with a new series of intimate wine events designed to bring festivalgoers closer to the people behind the wines.

Hosted by SuperValu, the Meet the Makers experience will feature some of the most exciting names in international winemaking alongside one of Ireland’s leading wine experts, offering guests the opportunity to taste, learn and discover in a relaxed but immersive setting.

Running across both afternoon and evening sessions, the events are expected to be one of the festival’s most sought-after experiences, with limited seats available for each tasting. From chilled Pinot Noir and bold Australian reds to elegant Portuguese Alvarinho and trend-led rosés, each session has been carefully curated to showcase wines with personality, provenance and a story worth telling.

Here are the five standout wine events to add to your Taste of Dublin wishlist.

Pink Society

If summer had an official wine category, this would be it. Hosted by Kevin O’Callaghan, SuperValu’s wine expert and chief wine buyer, Pink Society celebrates the rise of premium rosé and sparkling wines with personality. Guests will taste Screaming Devil Côtes de Provence Rosé alongside Crémant de Loire – a sparkling wine style growing rapidly in popularity as a sophisticated alternative to Champagne. Kevin, who has spent nearly 30 years shaping one of Ireland’s most respected wine portfolios, is known for making wine approachable and fun, encouraging people to trust their own palate rather than follow rigid wine rules.

Expect relaxed conversation, trend insights and seriously drinkable wines.

The Sommelier Handshake

For anyone curious about elegant, food-friendly wines with international flair, this session is worth booking early. Hosted by German winemaker Dominik Glas, this tasting showcases Albert Glas Black Label Riesling and a chilled Pinot Noir from Germany’s renowned Pfalz region. As the third-generation owner of the Albert Glas winery, Dominik combines traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary style shaped by experience in both Germany and Australia. The result is wines that balance freshness, purity and drinkability with real depth of character.

His approachable style and passion for storytelling make this masterclass ideal for guests looking to discover something new without intimidation.

Meet Our Ned

New Zealand’s Marlborough region comes to Taste of Dublin courtesy of Chris Lysley, Brand Ambassador for Marisco Vineyards. Chris will guide guests through The Ned Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, sharing insight into what makes Marlborough wines some of the most recognisable and loved in the world. With experience spanning retail, production and harvests in Oregon, Napa and New Zealand, Chris brings both expertise and entertainment to the table.

Expect food pairing tips, vineyard stories and plenty of easy-drinking summer wine inspiration.

Petiscos Trail

Portugal is having a major wine moment right now, and Hilário Ribeiro is one of the people leading that global conversation. At Petiscos Trail, guests will explore AM Alvarinho and Fado Friendship Reserve while discovering why Portuguese wines are increasingly recognised for their quality, value and individuality. Hilário, who has spent more than 15 years working across international wine markets, brings a unique insider perspective to the tasting.

Blending culture, storytelling and vibrant flavours, this session promises a fresh and exciting take on modern Portuguese wine.

BBQ Game Changer

For lovers of bold reds and outdoor dining, this Australian-inspired session is set to be a crowd favourite. Hosted by Matthew Nugan of Nugan Estate, one of Australia’s leading family-owned wineries, the class pairs Alfredo Dried Grape Shiraz with Bossy Boots Sauvignon Blanc – two wines designed with BBQ season in mind. The Shiraz delivers richness and intensity thanks to partially dried grapes, while the Sauvignon Blanc offers bright aromatics and refreshing balance.

Matthew’s experience overseeing vineyards across some of Australia’s top wine regions gives guests a rare insight into the depth and quality of Australian wines and why they are our go-to BBQ picks.
