That time of year: Christmas FM’s songwriter contest is back

If the pandemic means you have yet to feel even a sprinkle of the festive spirit, the good news is that Christmas FM will soon be here to inject some happiness into your day-to-day

Once again, the station is going all out and (kind of) attempting to replace Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas as the ultimate tune by hosting their own Christmas FM Song Contest. Have you got a Christmas hit in you? They want you to enter:

They describe the Aldi Christmas FM Song Contest – which is open now – as a “fantastic opportunity for aspiring singer/songwriters to be heard by Christmas FM’s national and international audience.” No pressure then! To enter, you simply have to write and record your very own Christmas song or cover version and fill out the online entry form on their website. The winning entry will be played live on air as the Official Christmas FM Song Contest Winner.

The winning entry will be played live on air and will be named ‘The Aldi Christmas FM Song Contest Winner for 2020.’

And in case you need another reason to turn the dial, every year, Christmas FM partners with a chosen charity to help raise much-needed funds and awareness. For 2018, they have chosen ALONE as their official charity partner.

The radio station is aiming to raise over €200,000 which will go directly towards ALONE’s mission to provide support coordination, befriending, and access to all of ALONE’s services to thousands of older people every week who are homeless, socially isolated, living in deprivation or in a crisis. Donations from listeners will enable ALONE to provide over 20,000 hours of vital support to older people in Ireland enabling them to live happily and independently in their own homes and communities, as there is no place like home – especially at Christmas time.

While you await launch day, you can listen to some Christmas tracks now online while we await the official launch of Christmas FM later this month.

Go, listen and be merry; Christmas music – in small or large doses – is simply good for the soul.
