Travel Secrets From Blythe Harris, Chief Creative Officer Of Stella & Dot

Frequent flyers are full of smart ideas on how to travel, visit and do business abroad in style. In the last of our three-part series, ?fashion-savvy businesswoman Blythe Harris, chief creative officer of online jewellery brand Stella & Dot, reveals her insider secrets. She makes bi-annual trips to London and Paris to visit vintage markets and galleries and to take in the street style, as well as travelling regularly between the bi-coastal design studios in NYC and Sausalito.

TRAVELLING SMART

I invested in a Tumi suitcase three years ago.I had been using a less expensive travel bag, but it fell apart at Heathrow Airport. I went straight to a luggage store, belongings in hand, and asked them for the most durable suitcase they had! It takes me about 30 minutes to pack for a work trip. I keep a travel cosmetic case with mini versions of each product I use, along with emergency medications, in my suitcase at all times. I also pack a folding frame with a photograph of my children.

DRESSING THE PART

My style uniform when travelling is a pair of Isabel Marant boots (they’re easy to slip on and off at security), a cashmere sweater, stretch skinny jeans and Stella & Dot bespoke necklaces layered. When travelling for work, I always pack a black dress and white shirt; they’re the perfect backdrop for smart accessories. One of my favourites right now is a Tibi dress with shoulder cut-outs.I always include a classic Jimmy Choo pump along with a pair of Zara lace-up ballet flats, plus one crazy pair of heels?just in case! For mini breaks, an older, favourite Isabel Marant embroidered dress always comes with me. It’s so comfortable and it can be dressed up or down.I generally pack a lot of dresses, as they fit easily into my suitcase. White lace tops with varying sleeve lengths from Zara are also a failsafe. I also tend to pack a lot of jersey.?I have a knit vest, leggings and tank dress from Helmut Lang that never wrinkle.

MAKE-UP MASTERCLASS

The key to looking fresh when travelling is to stay hydrated. I drink plenty of water and carry a facial oil, which I apply on the plane. I keep make-up minimal, using tinted moisturiser and mascara.

ON-THE-GO GADGETS

I have an app on my phone I have an app on my phone called Sleep Pillow, which helps me sleep in unfamiliar time zones and places, and my Bose headphones cancel out all the noise around me.
