Want to offer your Yuletide guests something unexpected for a snack instead of the usual Christmas fare? Try some of these daring dishes…
1. Donal Skehan’s Millionaire Chocolate Ganache Tart (pictured above). A marvellously moreish option, this dainty but dangerous gold-dusted tart by one of Ireland’s most charming chefs is a handy one to cut up and share – or devour all on your lonesome with a glass of milk while watching Love, Actually. No judgement here.
2. Drunken Pear Ginger Bread. Brilliantly boozy, this lovely recipe by Broma Bakery involves poaching pears in white wine, sugar and spices and submerging them in a gorgeously rich ginger bread batter. Yes, please.
3. Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Pop-Tarts. What’s not to love about the idea of homemade pop-tarts? These fudgey wonders from Tieghan Gerard at Half Baked Harvest are sweet, nostalgia-inducing and chocolatey – perfect for Christmas.
5. Chocolate Dipped Shortbread. Ok, so shortbread at Christmas might not exactly be thinking outside the box, but does it normally look this delicious? We think not. Rachel of La Pêche Fraîche has dipped hers in chocolate and pecans. Yum!
