Lash Addiction

I’d sooner sell the shirt off my back, than curb my penchant for semi-permanent lash extensions. I’m totally hooked on the lush, feline and flirty effects and, better still, how they stay put for up to a month.  If you’ve yet to experience their brilliance, they are single synthetic lashes, which are applied one-by-one onto your natural lashes, with a little glue and a puff of air. They can take up to an hour to apply, which frankly is rather tedious, but the results are worth it. Anywhere between 60 and 120 lashes are placed onto each eye, depending on how much flutter power you desire and you can choose between short, medium and long length or a mix of long at the outer corners and short in the centre, for a fan-like effect. A plethora of beauty salons now have them on their treatment menus – and Xtreme and Nova are the brands to look out for – but having had them done in five salons so far, it’s clear that the skill of the therapist is crucial to the outcome. We rate the Vanity Rooms in Stepaside, www.vanityrooms.ie or Akina in Temple Bar, www.akina.ie
