We’ve been avid fans of Mark and Jonathan Legge, aka Makers & Brothers, since they launched their quirky-cool brand of design-led craft in 2011. Based in Blackrock, South County Dublin, they are now (almost) household names. And if they’re not quite yet, they will be. For sure. Their mix of products range from bits of furniture to toys. Vases to wooden plates. Blankets to woolly sheep…

Handmade and gorgeously simple, their products sit well with the well-known design ethos that you should only have things in your home that you find to be both useful and beautiful. One isn’t enough on its own.

Mainly retailing via their site makersandbrothers.com?they had an urge to meet their customers face to face and have quite recently pushed out their own boundaries (literally) by building a replica of their Blackrock shed as a pop up event in stores. The Shed is currently housed in Brown Thomas Dublin. Watch and wonder.

So we wondered why pop up? Mark told us that, ?alongside the desire to stock products of integrity we also wanted to create an engaging retail experience, both virtually and physically. Dealing with the nature of craft and design also made us want to be more than an online store. This, plus we enjoy putting on a show. So far we have had three openings in our shed – Dublin, New York and another in London. So we’re excited!?

We’re loving it – See you in The Shed til May 19th!

The brothers are also finalists in tomorrow’s (May 2nd) Fly Higher event in The Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire. The event is run by the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Enterprise Board?and serves to showcase and reward best-in-class micro-enterprises in the locality.
