Normann Copenhagen Delivers Flat Pack With Finesse

“From suitcase to lounge chair in five minutes.” It might sound like a lofty ambition, but it’s exactly what Hans Hornemann and Normann Copenhagen have achieved in their new range. The Ace Collection, launched at Milan’s Salone del Mobile, is an urban dweller’s furniture dream – particularly useful for those who move a lot.

Hans Hornemann appears to have had his hands full with the collection – taking responsibility over the design process, manufacturing and logistics, all the way through to transport and storage. The Danish designer’s work has clearly paid off, producing a beautiful plywood chair and sofa, with springy upholstering, and a variety of seat widths in soft, muted colours.

Simply assemble and disassemble by screwing the seat and back together, with the legs slotting into pre-made holes. Until now, much of flexible furniture options often meant falling short on quality or strong design, but Hornemann counters this, while giving amble capacity for flux.
