Breakfast at Holly Golightly’s

Movie interiors geeks, get ready to nerd out.

The townhouse in which the eternally costume party fallback, Holly Golightly, lived is on the market. The home of the?Breakfast at Tiffany’s character was immortalised in the 1960s film and has been on the market these last few months. As of yet, we haven’t made a bid. The Upper East Side townhouse was originally offered at at swish $10 million but recently the price was cut by $2 million – a change nearly as dramatic as Truman Capote’s beloved protagonist.

So, for the small sum of $8 million or thereabouts, you and your real life Fred will get yourself a prime piece of movie history – and four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a solarium. The only drawback on bragging rights? The townhouse was used solely for exterior shots, so cancel those plans to replicate one of those swinging parties that took place throughout the movie. However, curbed.com points out that the olive doors are still the same, so there is that. And we’re pretty sure this bed looks way more comfortable than Holly’s infamous bath-couch.

For a further gawk at the property, roll on over here.

We have to admit, as we grow older, and maybe wiser, we’re finding ourselves distracted not by a film’s plot, but the movie set. Nancy Meyers, director of?The Holiday and It’s Complicated, might be heavy on the schmaltz, but the woman knows good real estate. Exhibit A? Kate Winslet’s cottage in the aforementioned seasonal romantic comedy. Not only is that rustic vibe giving us fuzzy feelings, but the commute to London city is a fictional breeze. Also, Jude Law is your neighbour. *blissfully ignores his private life*

And how about Cameron Diaz’s Hollywood home in the same movie? It’s like AirBnB on dreamy opiates.

If you’re more into classic interiors rewatch? The Notebook and ignore Noah and Allie’s writhing bodies when they finally consummate their everlasting love in that house.

If you can’t pass an Orla Kiely homewares shelf without sighing, Richard Curtis’?About Time is your spirit animal. This Cornwall mansion? Swit swoo.

And our final if-we-won-the-lotto pick??Marley and Me.

Which movie homes do you dream about buying?
