6 Makers to Look Out For at Dublin’s Fresh Talent Exhibition

Having set up home at the National Craft Gallery, Kilkenny, at the start of the year, the Fresh Talent exhibition has made it to Dublin. It opens tomorrow in the Irish Design Hub at Dublin Castle, offering an amazing platform for a selection of young achievers in a wide variety of design fields. ?Scroll down to see who’s squarely on our must-see list…

1 Gazel

Founded only last year, Gazel have recently launched their first collection, Living – a stylish and well-thought-out body of designs that includes these hangers. The beauty of this product is not just its elegant form but the fact it is designed to glide through the tightest of collars without the chance of stretching: ingenious! (Pssst: keep an eye out for their upcoming collection, Creating.)

2 DesignGoat

Shining stars of the Irish creative scene, Cian Corcoran and Ahmad Fakhry have risen?up the ranks in fast and furious fashion’since graduating from NCAD’s?Industrial Design department in 2011. The pair?have put their stamp on’some of the trendiest spots in Dublin,’such as Brother Hubbard, Indigo &?Cloth, 3FE and the new IMMA lobby.

3 Sin?ad On?ra Kennedy
Fresh (pun intended) from her residency in Iceland, one of Ireland’s most promising artists, Sin?ad On?ra Kennedy, will be exhibiting?work from her graduate show ??an arresting and unexpectedly sensitive collection concerned with disconnected body image and the irrational thought process that goes along with it.

4 Orla Reynolds
As you can see from our latest issue, we are head over heels for all things modular – and Orla Reynolds is no exception. This clever and attractive unit was imagined by picturing the home as a stage. We know where we would place the spotlight!

5 The Atlantic Equipment Project
Designed with the West Coast surfer in mind, these bags and accessories are hardwearing and nice on the eye.?The Atlantic Equipment Project (AE) is the brainchild of Ashleigh Smith???a graduate of Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands and the University of Limerick???and all the products are handmade in Sligo.
