So, I’m literally just back from a whirlwind week in London, where the first half was spent frantically trying to pack as in as many Fashion Week shows as possible and ensuring I nabbed enough backstage interviews for our A/W 2011 trend report. And whilst the catwalk fashion was fabulous – lots of prints, furs and matching legging and tunic combos going on – the weather was so horrific it put paid to the normally outrageously dressed show-goers who typically spend the week prancing about outside the tents, trying to get papped and pretending to be famous. Watching them is usually, in fact, way more fun than the shows or the parties themselves, so it was disappointing to see everyone running around in black puffa jackets and flat boots trying to avoid hypothermia – bar my die hard stylist friend Deirdre from the Daily Mail (pictured with me) who braved the Baltic and got her mug into every paper and magazine in town.
I did however, get my style thrills yesterday when I met exclusively with a nylon clad Lady Gaga and the very cool Cyndi, both in town talking about their collaboration with MAC and the new Viva Glam campaign. Gaga (who, by the way, was an hour an a half late) is teeny tiny in reel life – like a munchkin in gigantic platform heels – and was wearing a transparent body suit, made from a floral pair of tights – fortunately she had undies on to protect her modesty down there but her lady lumps were in full view. Though her eyes, unfortunately, were not, which made the interview extremely difficult, as she hid behind a big feather and leather head piece but none-the-less talked candidly about sex, orgasms, being single, life on the road and why she feels the need to protect her fans – I can’t reveal much more but you can read the entire interview (once I’ve transcribed it, that is) in the June issue. But for now, I’m off to catch up on some much needed zzzs.
