FACE BOOK

We hear a lot of malarkey these days about the death of print publishing, the web taking over, blah, blah, blah. But, to me, it's just that - malarkey. True, we love a bit of online entertainment (hence, of course, why we at IMAGE Towers are blogging our little socks off of late), but that doesn't cancel out the loveliness of beautiful pages bound together in a book ... or a magazine. Take for example the realm of street style, a genre grown by the web, sites like The Sartorialist, Facehunter and our own Dublinstreets creating a new platform for young-and-trendies to strut their stuff, and yet, as soon as their stars have sufficiently risen, the point-and-click impresarios behind these blogs get themselves a book contract. Late last year we had The Sartorialist and the latest news is that Facehunter’s Ivan Rodic will launch his first book with Thames & Hudson early in March. Excited. I motion that web and print are in a mutually affectionate relationship. Let the love affair continue.
