ASK TINA: VALENTINE BLUES

Q It’s coming up to that time of the year again when I feel so inadequate. I
work in an office full of pretty young things looking forward to Valentine’s
Day and they are never disappointed. I’m only in my mid-thirties but have
never received flowers at the office. Would it be silly for me to order some
and pretend they were from an admirer?

A If it will make you feel good, absolutely – go for it. There will be
questions, so better put an easy-to-remember plan in place. Have you been
away recently? Better if he is not locally based, otherwise they will insist
on viewing him and we don’t want that! He could be foreign or working away
(recession and all that) or you could just put a “?” on the card and look
surprised – that way you don’t have to give an explanation.
