The accomplished British fashion designer presented her spring/summer ’18 collection last night at #NYFW and stunned wearing her go-to fashion uniform of sturdy jeans, a plain white t-shirt, and the perfect shoe.

If you’ve been keeping up to speed with the goings-on At New York Fashion Week this week, then chances are you’ll have noticed an increase in “look at me” outfits (I’m talking about?Kim Kardashian in that ripped dress) and front row ensembles where less is the new more. But for Vic, she again proved that simplicity and staple wardrobe pieces are the key to winning over critics and fans.

Unlike other shows we’ve seen this week – like Rihanna’s Fenty festival of devilishly’dressed, sport-lux beauties, or the Avante-Garde style “pop-up” show by Alexandre Wang in various locations across New York city – Victoria Beckham‘s show was stunningly simple, with the spotlight firmly on the collection.

As a whole, the collection is strong and familiar, with recognizable silhouettes and fundamental wardrobe?pieces. There were masculine shirts tucked into pencil skirts, structured suits in feminine tones, glitter, and sequence midi-skirts, tiny technical detailing, and fantastic craftsmanship. It’s delicate yet strong: everything that has encompassed?Victoria Beckham’s?eponymous label over the last 9 years since its fruition in 2008.

This seasons newness, however, comes in the form of colour. Instead of Victoria’s’systematic black uniform that her fans have grown accustomed?with, the designer opted instead for fruity, poppy summer colours like mint, baby pink, cerulean, and nudes. Think play-doh and ice-cream.

As a designer and brand, VB isn’t one that will win the most ‘like’s on Instagram, but instead, she has created an honest collection and identity for women that can truly be worn straight from the catwalk.
