The Coolest Women At Milan Fashion Week

The Coolest Women At Milan Fashion Week

Men’s fashion week at Milan got underway this week just days after the men’s showcase at Pitti Uomo in Florence, and while these events predominantly showcase menswear and unisex collections, it is the ladies who are stealing the’street style limelight.

In comparison to London, and indeed Pitti Uomo, Milan Fashion Week is conventionally more toned back?and suave, but nonetheless sophisticated and wardrobe-envy inducing: it really is where the cool people come to enjoy endless sunshine and the latest trends.

Key features from this week include loose-fitting silhouettes as seen at Prada and Marni – perfect for sticky temperatures and humidity. Traditional Italian tailoring featured heavily, but so too did more unconventional “industrial construction” looks which were seen on the catwalks of Palm Angels, Poan, and GCDS.?Refined layering was also a big feature which attendees showed off excellently – despite it being +36 degrees.

Thankfully, we have yet to see any sartorial IKEA pieces yet (I hope I haven’t spoken too soon). While it was marginally entertaining to see how the creative among the fashion industry sewed, cut, and hot-glued the infamous blue and yellow logo onto T-shirts, belts, and even thongs, I’m over it.

Have we fallen down some kind of sartorial, sarcastic, fashion time warp?
