Forget award season; for many the star-studded Met Gala is a’sartorial highlight on the fashion calendar. Some took this year’s theme of Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology a tad too literally (even Zayn Malik can’t pull off robotic arms) while others chose to artfully sidestep the Tron side of things and let their Haute Couture gowns do the talking. Blake Lively, Dakota Johnson, Beyonc? (her modern take on the naked dress deserves column?inches), Sienna Miller and Naomi Watts all shone while Taylor Swift clearly arrived dressed as her evil doppelganger and not even Louis Vuitton could save Alicia Vikander (and we usually love her). Madonna, we can’t even.

The Irish were well represented on the Met carpet this year, with Saoirse Ronan displaying her quirky side wearing a custom Christopher Kane gown with a heavily feathered neck (plus, the eyeliner goals), Caitriona Balfe looked undeniably elegant in a red velvet Roland Mouret?gown teamed with Kurt Geiger pumps and?Eve Hewson looked incredible in a silver metallic, strapless?Monse dress.

See all the looks from the evening in our gallery above and look out for more of our #MetGala coverage?on IMAGE.ie today.
