VIDEO: How To make Pink Look Modern

VIDEO: How To make Pink Look Modern

I almost never wear pink, except for one very cool fuchsia T-shirt I bought from Finery London last year. But it’s the colour of the season and it’s pretty prominent in the AW17 collections too. So how do you?take this?candy cane colour and make it look sophisticated rather than saccharine? I’d begin by choosing one piece with a masculine cut. A streamlined coat or jacket, for instance, will dilute down the girlishness usually associated with this baby doll shade. When you’re putting together an outfit based around a single colourway, it’s really important to mix up textures as it will add depth and individuality to your look. Suede, silk, tulle and wool with all play well together.

Injecting pattern is also a good idea as it will make the whole look feel less “pink”. For many women their fear of this colour?lies in the threat of looking like Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, so’replacing heels with sliders or trainers can instantly add the cool factor required. Click on the link below to see how I styled a pink outfit?that’s chic rather than cutesy.

Check jacket, Claudie Pierlot, €395; pink logo T-shirt, Kenzo, €245: both at Brown Thomas. Tulle skirt, €117 (reduced from €195) at Maje. Pink suede mules, €30 (reduced from €65) at River Island.
