Victoria Beckham Opens First Flagship

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham has opened her first store on London’s Dover St. Every London trip henceforth has a new must-visit.

Victoria Beckham launched her label six years ago and has firmly established herself as one of fashion’s most reliable talents. The initial reaction to the Queen of the WAGs foray into fashion was one of incredulity. Now, after years of New York Fashion Week successes, as well as a recently launched shoe line, critics are amnesiac in their unbridled enthusiasm. VB can do no wrong and if you want a timeless dress with impeccable tailoring book a trip to London now. (Prices for dresses start at around €500 so the piggy bank may need some pre-emptive TLC.)

In the video below she talks about how 36 Dover St called to her. ?This is my home, I’ve always loved Dover St? It’s very unassuming from the outside, which I love.? The store opened yesterday and the three-storey space seems to have gone down a storm with shoppers and fashion insiders. Victoria collaborated with Farshid Moussavi Architecture to create the modern and stunning minimalist layout – the firm never dealt with retail spaces before having designed art galleries, thus lending 36 Dover St an austere edge that other shops are sure to imitate.

Vogue‘s Suzy Menkes toured the flagship before its grand opening?and said, ?The general effect is of streamlined grandeur. The building is modern, minimalist and those stairs alone seem like a sculpture.” In an interview with Menkes, Victoria explained that the store’s easy-to-navigate layout isn’t just for her customers – “It is very important that men can come and watch – like David, who sometimes goes shopping with me.”

Earlier this month in an interview with The Guardian she spoke honestly about her fame and career transformation, ?First time around I felt famous, but now I feel successful.? Now if that doesn’t inpsire a big awwww from Image.ie, we don’t know what will.

Will you be visiting Dover St anytime soon?
