Amal Clooney to Land Vogue Cover?

Amal Clooney to Land Vogue Cover?

Might Amal Clooney be getting a US Vogue cover? Those in the know say Anna Wintour is seriously considering bestowing fashion’s highest honour on the internationally renowned lawyer who married George Clooney last year.

Rumours started last week in a Daily Mail report where a source was quoted as saying the Vogue Editor-in-Chief and 36-year-old “had talks. Amal is reticent – but she loves fashion.” Amal’s style resume is pretty solid. She favours Dolce & Gabbana, and counts Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli and Stella McCartney among her wardrobe. Her black Dior gown for last week’s Golden Globes ceremony was divisive for its accompanying white gloves – we loved the classy ensemble while others felt it was a bit old-fashioned.

Amal has also collaborated?with Vogue previously – her wedding dress fitting with the late Oscar de la Renta was covered in the magazine and Anna Wintour has allegedly advised Mrs. Clooney on fashion previously and attended her Venice wedding. Grazia reports that this time round Wintour wants Amal on the cover with an interview running alongside. Considering Amal has worked with public figues such as Kofi Annan and WikiLeaks? Julian Assange as well as representing persecuted journalists in Egypt, readers can expect a meaty interview. Personally, we’d love to see a woman like Amal Clooney on the cover. People often dismiss fashion magazines as silly and see an interest in the industry as a sign of frivolity. Featuring a woman like Amal in one of the most important fashion publications in the world would prove to the naysayers that an interest in clothes is not an indication of superficiality, but a complex aspect of a person’s character.

While we wait on confirmation of these rather splendid rumours let’s take a Monday moment to swoon at husband George’s Golden Globes speech where he said, “Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband.”
