Woolapalooza Farm Festival: Time To Have A Field Day

It’s never too early to start earning your festival stripes, and this Sunday and Monday bank holiday sees the return of Woolapalooza Farm Festival at Airfield in Dundrum, Dublin 14, a perfect opportunity to introduce the up and comers to the joys of a field day. This suburban fete is set on the 38 acre farm just off the M50, and combines both music, food, demos and craft to create a delicious mix of fun, adventure and time out.

Early birds can kick off with an egg collection at 10am, followed by a milking demo of the Jersey herd and milk tasting in the farmyard. There are sheep shearing slots throughout the day with award-winning sheep shearer Rodney, as well as a craft market in the Green Barn and Hive Courtyard, with drop-in craft sessions at the Calf House for those who want to try their own hand at make and do. Sheepdog trials are every hour and a half in the Fairy Tree Field, while there’s a chance to get more hands-on with the animals at the Animal Feeding session at 3.30.

The Green Barn plays host to the barn dance and face painting while the pop-up cafe, stocked with fruit super juice and organic herbal teas will also be dishing out fresh brewed Jersey milk lattes, along with a selection of baked treats. Gastronomes will be glad too of the all-day BBQ at the Hive courtyard, with a traditional Irish farmhouse cooking demonstration with Airfield’s resident baker Shane Smith taking place at Hort Kitchen at 12pm.

Garden and woodland walks, tours of the beautiful Airfield House, knitting bee’s and farm and lawn games are just some of the other extras you can enjoy. All that and you get to go home to you own bed that night. What’s not to love?
