Celebrate The Chinese New Year Here
Were you born in the year of the rooster? If so, then it’s your lucky year! The Dublin Chinese New Year Festival welcomes the Year of the Rooster with a programme of events running from Jan 28th through to Feb 12th. The festival plans to deliver a high profile cultural and celebratory programme to mark this significant date in the Chinese Calendar. There is a whole range of special events taking place around the city this weekend to mark the occasion including art exhibitions, ping-pong competitions, and special Guinness tours delivered in Mandarin. The first Dublin flea market of 2017 takes place tomorrow at the Dublin Food Co-op, Newmarket. Taking place on the last Sunday of every month, expect a bizarre bazaar of vintage clothing, bric-a-brac and what not’s. Fancy fashionable tea? The Merrion Hotel officially welcomed The Berkeley in Knightsbridge and its legendary fashion afternoon tea, Prêt-à-Portea, this week. Since 2006, Prêt-à-Portea remains the original fashionista afternoon tea in London taking inspiration from key fashion styles from the world’s leading designers. Now Dubliners will have the opportunity to try fashion tea for themselves for one week only; from Saturday, 28th January to Sunday, 5th February. Learn about what our ancestors wore during the time of the reign of Queen Medb and the Vikings at the Irish Costume History Exhibition today until 6pm at A4 Sounds, Upper Dorset St, Dublin 1. The exhibition combines a series of drawings showing what people wore in Ireland from 8000 BC – 400 AD, eventually leading up to modern day.
