The 97th annual Dublin City Liffey swim takes place today, August 6th. Swimmers will endure a gruelling 2,200-meter swim through the iconic river, passing some well-known stops along the way. The first Liffey Swim took place on 22 July 1920 and has grown significantly since then; with participants as young as 13 and as old as 70. Admission is €35 for adults and €20 for children. Legendary disco and fashion queen Grace Jones will perform for one night only at an intimate gig at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre as part of an ongoing documentary being made about Jones’ life. Titled ‘The Musical Of My Life’, the documentary is being produced by Irish production company Blinder Films and Sligoville and is set for release sometime in 2017.
