Vintage shop

Quirky vintage finds help you avoid the samey trap and create a unique, personalised space. Don’t know where to start? Here’s our round up of some Dublin hot spots.

Antique Shops and Salvage Yards

Arts and Antiques Quarter (Francis Street, Dublin 8). Three of the best affordable antiquaries here are: Time Piece, a gallery of clockwork wonders; Dublin Art Metals, for lovers of shiny pretty things; and The Oriental Rugs Co., for that unique handwoven masterpiece.

Mac’s Warehouse (Islandbridge, Dublin 8), the go-to place for people undertaking big period renovation projects.

Christy Bird’s (Portobello, Dublin 2), a family business and possibly Ireland’s oldest vintage store.

The New Generation of Vintage Shops

The Third Policeman (Rathmines, Dublin 6) just may be the quirkiest vintage store in town and it also stocks beautiful unique homewares and hard-to-come-by d?cor pieces like vintage cases, crockery and old Irish utensils.

Siopaella (Temple Bar, Dublin 2), the place to go for vintage fashion, it has just added homewares to its offering this summer.

Kirk Modern (Sandymount, Dublin 4), the mid-century specialist who has contributed pieces to a host of our house tours.

Vintage your way to a beautiful pad with this little book of great ideas, and send us photos of your unique finds on Facebook and Twitter.
