New Website Launches Today Showcasing Ireland’s Leading Designers

DesignIreland.ie?is the newest web platform dedicated to showcasing the work of Ireland‘s leading designers and craftspeople, and officially launches today.

Developed by the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI), DesignIreland.ie aims to provide consumers around the world?with inspiration, images, and stories about talented Irish designers and their work. The site forms part of DCCoI’s strategic goal to develop awareness of Irish design and craft at home and abroad;?capitalizing on the growing international reputation of the sector in recent years.

According to Design Ireland, the addition of this new website will add to the artist’s overall ability to tell?the untold story behind their product or design: “telling stories about the makers and their work is a key part of what the new website will do, but it will also focus on how consumers can purchase products online or in-store directly from the maker or through approved partners”.

Approved stockists include Arnotts, the Kilkenny Group, Brown Thomas, Irish Design Shop, Makers & Brothers and Stonechat, as well as international retailers including Heal’s, The New Craftsmen, and Wolf & Badger in the UK, The Citizenry in the US, and St?r in Tokyo. The site also lists where purchases can be made in-store.

The launch of the website also coincides with a programme of week-long pop-ups between Monday, 7 November and Saturday, 24 December?featuring designers Jennifer Rothwell,?Chaim Factor,?Jennifer Slattery Textiles,?Brendan Joseph, Zelouf+Bell, and?Edel Traynor.?Full details are available here.
