More Magic Mike, More Channing Tatum

More Magic Mike, More Channing Tatum

channing tatum dancing in magic mike

As if Channing Tatum and his fellow stripper/actor friends dancing, grinding and gyrating senselessly in Magic Mike (the original and Magic Mike XXL) wasn’t enough to set our pulses racing, apparently we’re in for a musical too.

So now, they’ll be stripping, dancing, gyrating, grinding aaaaand singing. Hurrah! Admittedly, Magic Mike is our ultimate guilty pleasure; we know it’s probably wrong to ogle at their oil-slicked bodies emerging from a pair of Christina Aguilera-inspired leather chaps, objectifying these men as though they’re something to be played with, but, in fairness to us, that’s exactly what director Steven Soderbergh was going for, and it works.

Mr Tatum tells Entertainment Weekly that a musical adaptation?is “still in the works.”?So basically, you’d be getting all the wonders of the movie, but right in front of you. But it won’t be like a tacky strip club, you see, ’cause there’ll be singing. What’s more, it’ll no doubt be brilliant, given that it will be written by Channing himself, Soderbergh and Reid Carolin.?Here’s what he’s saying:

“We’re getting it going. Oddly enough, the second one lends itself more to the musical. I think our original idea was to do a prequel, like how Mike got in.”

And as for the movies, can we expect a third?

“I really don’t know. I wish I could say yeah because we have so much fun on them. I’m never gonna say never, but if we did it?because the first one is so different from the second one?I would probably just try and change it again.”

As long as you’re in it, Channing, and you do something akin to this here slidey move, we don’t mind what you do.
