Kristen Stewart Says Twilight Sex Scenes Were Agony

Kristen Stewart Says Twilight Sex Scenes Were Agony

If Kristen Stewart made any mention of Robert Pattinson in news stories linked to her the sole condition of a drinking game, she’d be on a waiting list for a new body, never mind a liver.

The two actors made a generation of teenage girls swoon when they starred opposite each other in the Twilight saga as Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, a sullen female human and sparkly vampire abstaining from love-making respectively. In an added bonus for the fandom, Pattinson and Stewart dated, until shortly before the release of the final installment in the franchise, Breaking Dawn: Part 2.

This week Stewart, who’s on the festival circuit with The Clouds of Sils Maria, got reminiscing about her time making the movies, specifically the infamous sex scene in the second last film, Breaking Dawn: Part 1, where Bella finally lost her virginity to her immortal soulmate.

When we saw it in the cinema, there was a lot of laughs, so we can only imagine what it was like on set. Turns out, not cool. Stewart felt under incredible pressure regarding the scene, which fans had been anticipating. “It had to be transcendent and otherworldly, inhuman, better sex than you can possibly ever imagine, and we were like, ‘How do we live up to that?’? It was agony. Which sucks, because I wanted it to be so good,” she said.

That’s a big burden for an actress to put on herself for a vampire movie with no fangs, never mind a fictional virgin. Also, her and Pattinson were dating at the time. Can you imagine having to shoot a sex scene with your boyfriend while a camera crew watched?
