John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are #RelationshipGoals.
Last year, Hollywood was hit by a tornado of split announcements. Many asked was love dead. Are hard-working couples who live in the public eye doomed from the first kiss/paparazzi-ed brunch? Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. John Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt. Don’t get us started on Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s separation.
However, if there is one Hollywood couple who reaffirms our belief in starry-eyed soulmates, it is that of married-with-a-daughter pairing John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. Their every red carpet appearance is infused with genuine eye contact. So together do they seem, that even looking at them feels like we’re crossing a line into their privacy. They are that perfect together. Blunt and The Office star married in 2010, on Lake Como, welcoming daughter Grace four years later, in 2014. Blunt took up US citizenship last year because of their marriage and is nothing but effusive when talking about her husband in interviews. Krasinski is just as in love, and his latest interview is a total awwwwww zone.
During an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show, Krasinski took some time to pay tribute to the woman with whom he legally bound himself. “I’m one of the luckiest guys in the world,” he said. However, there is some imbalance in The Perfect Relationship when it comes to fitness regimens. This disparity came to light while Krasinski prepared for his role in action movie 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. The 36-year-old had to hit the gym for a punishing training schedule. At first, John thought it was going to be an easy ride. Fitness goals and what not. “I thought it would be like, ‘Yeah, let’s eat a couple Power Bars and do pushups.’ And [his trainer Jason Walsh] was like, ‘No. It’s going to be a living hell for six to eight weeks.’” he said of his ‘journey’. There was sled pulling, hours of push-ups, and yet Krasinski thinks Emily is the more devoted gym bunny of the two. The actress, who made her name in The Devil Wears Prada, has been making a name for herself in action heavy movies such as Sicario and Edge of Tomorrow. In order to keep up her stamina, the 32-year-old does “very extreme fight training.” Her husband decided to check in on her one day, and to say he was majorly intimidated is an understatement: “I walked by a door just to be like, ‘Hey! How’s it going?’ And then she was punching and elbowing this bag that was starting to open with, like fluff in it, and all I could think was, ‘Please don’t have a nightmare tonight! Please don’t have a nightmare tonight!’”
And how does Emily feel about the buffer John? “She hates it,” Krasinski said. “She would prefer to have doughy guy back.”
As we said earlier, #RelationshipGoals.
