WIN: The Constance College Bracelet From The Terrible Beauty 1916 Collection

?Terrible Beauty, a new Irish jewellery brand from artist Maria Parsons, has launched its first collection, inspired by the ordinary and extraordinary people of Dublin’s Easter Rising. The 1916 Collection features stunning, handcrafted jewellery for women and men, cast mainly in sterling silver, with elements of gold and rose gold.

Terrible Beauty are giving one lucky reader a chance to win The Constance College Bracelet, a solid sterling silver bracelet with 18ct yellow gold plate detail, featuring a?T-bar bone clasp and illustrative stamp tag.

Terrible Beauty’s strong, industrial aesthetic is drawn from Dublin’s rich urban landscape, and Maria’s powerful, textural designs reflect the famous ?contradictory? words of W.B Yeats that inspired the whole collection. Pieces include stacking rings, pendants, statement bracelets, brooches, earrings and stamp cuff links; each one imbued with strength and character, reflecting the bravery and vision displayed at this key moment in history.

Each series within the collection is named after one of the leading women of the Rising. The Constance Series is rooted in the men, women and children of 1916; the Grace Series is inspired by the history and aesthetics of Kilmainham Gaol; and the Maud Series is derived from the incomplete nature of the island of Ireland.

Maria ?Parsons is an award-winning jewellery designer and graduate of NCAD. Her previous work includes pieces for Newbridge Silverware’s jewellery collection, which have been worn by supermodel, Naomi Campbell. Her parents hail from Stoneybatter in Dublin’s north inner city, and her family history has left her with a particular interest in the human story of the Easter Rising – one of her grandfathers worked in the GPO in 1916, while the other worked in Boland’s Mill. Maria also draws upon the contemporary visage of modern architecture paired with historical monuments, creating pieces that echo the rhythms of the inner city.

Terrible Beauty: The 1916 Collection is available to purchase on the newly launched website, www.terriblebeauty.ie. It will be available from early March in selected stockists, including Arnotts, Wiers, Kilkenny Shop, House of Ireland, Shannon Group retail outlets and the new GPO Witness History Interpretive Exhibition Centre.
