We all knew thick and dark eyebrows were a thing but now the beauty trend has got mind blowing statistics to prove it. The last twelve months has seen a surge in eyebrow pencils with sales increasing by a phenomenal 42%.
Cara Delevingne is the obvious poster girl for the return to 1980s Brooke Shields glamour and her signature brows are now stamped all over Topshop’s new advertising campaign, the first to fronted by a single models.
This Daily Mail article reporting on the indomitable rise of the ‘power brow’ also cites Dove’s natural beauty campaign and the #nomakeupselfie cancer awareness trend from a few months ago as two other leading factors in the sales increase. Young actresses such as Love, Rosie star Lily Collins and Emilia Clarke of Game of Thrones are also inspiring women to refrain from zealous tweezing.
Apparently sales of eyebrow products reached £28 million last year in the UK, up 42% on 2012’s £20 million. Analysts are confidently predicting sales to reach £31 million this year so keep those brows stylishly bushy.
