4 Toners To Give You Glowing Skin

When you use the right one, a good toner can work wonders on the skin, whether you have dry, oily or combination. Toners have been dismissed of late – micellar water was seen as a substitute?for much of last year – but?while micellar water can serve a purpose cleansing the skin in a similar fashion, toners also aim to shrink pores and refine the?complexion – something a micellar?water won’t do. Regular use of a facial toner removes oil build up, giving the appearance of smaller pores. They also help to bind moisture to the skin and due to the alkaline nature of soap and most face washes, the pH balance of our skin can get disturbed (your skin can then go into overdrive trying to restore it, hence the excess oil) so a toner works to restore this balance.

Different toners serve different needs of the skin; oily and spot-prone skin should gravitate towards exfoliating, balancing toners, while dry or combination skin types will need hydrating, moisturising properties (though those with excessively dry skin should go for an alcohol-free version as this will only strip the skin further). Those with sensitive skin should look for one that is very natural (plant-based is a good idea) and with ingredients’such as aloe vera designed to soothe and reduce inflammation.

Scroll for four we love, designed to combat a wide range of facial skin needs:
