These may not be popcorn movies, but if you want to see the best of the Irish and foreign cinema’s latest offerings, these are the places where you’ll want to go. So get in your car, get your film buffs friends together, and enjoy these film festivals in Ireland …

Clones Film Festival | 23?26 October | Clones, Co. Monaghan ?Aiming for a target audience as diverse as the films to be shown, the festival has an educational slant with special workshops and screenings for primary schools and master classes for film students. Among the best films on an impressive programme are: Within the Eye of the Storm and The Lunchbox. You can be more than a spectator at this one. The Short Film Challenge will see teams of film-makers write and produce their own short, involving audience members in casting, location and other supportive roles.

Why Not? Adventure Film Festival | Galway, 25 & Castlebar 30 October ?The festival has one aim: ?to inspire people with tales of adventure?.?And inspired you shall be: amazing cinematography of mind-blowing extreme sports or incredible expeditions in remote places of the planet is on offer. Here’s a little sample: Oceanic Acid.
