The Best Brogues in the Shops

The Best Brogues in the Shops

We’re big brogues gals. The sturdiest member of the flat family is ideal for these Autumn days and evenings, and thanks to Clarks and M&S you can embrace the jewel tones of the season. The brogue charms on all fronts – those dashes of masculinity combine with a post-war sensibility to make the ultimate smart girl shoe. Keira Knightley is one of the best ambassador for the shoe, regularly treading indie festival red carpets with a pair.

Hamble Oak Dark Grean Lea €99

If you’re after your own pair we’d recommend a visit to M&S where the Autograph range has a simple variation on the theme (?77) in three shades that will work with most colour combinations.

While these chain loafers from Topshop make for an ideal night-time look – say goodbye to Sunday morning blisters and hello to a lot of ?Where did you get those shoes??

Kara Chain Loafers, €72

And Ireland’s unofficial First Lady, Amy Huberman, is also a fan of the brogue, including a brown suede-y pair as part of her new shoe collection with Bourbon. Every item in the collection is called after one of Amy’s favourite moves and we can’t think of a more suitable honorific than Sense and Sensibility
