Actual Prada Talks About The Devil Wears Prada

By IMAGE
01st May 2015

The woman behind Prada, Miuccia Prada, has finally spoken about that iconic noughties working girl classic, The Devil Wears Prada. And her words are as far from a glacial Miranda Priestley one can get.

Turns out Prada loved the film, despite the title associating them with the eternally unpopular Lucifer. Miuccia was speaking to the Italian site Corriere della Sera when the topic of the movie arose, and she admitted she had initial reservations about the whole thing. ?I was terrified: the book was awful,? she said.

As readers of both the original novel by Lauren Weisberger and its dismal sequel Revenge Wears Prada, we have to say the transition to the screen improves on characters and plot. (The sequel is pretty woeful and tells the story of Andy and Emily setting up a wedding publication and how Andy marries a rich guy who may not love her in the way the guy off Entourage did. It’s drab and a drag.)

Miuccia shared our thoughts on the eventual adaptation, saying, ?The film, on the other hand, was fun.? The movie, which details a young woman, Andy Sachs, finding and trying to keep a job to the Editor-in-Chief of fashion magazine Runway, is one of the finest fashion films of all time, and will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year. The original cast has gone from strength to strength. Anne Hathaway secured an Academy Award in recent years and English actress Emily Blunt conquered Hollywood with leading roles in movies like Into the Woods and The Edge of Tomorrow. Meryl Streep is still at the top of her game and Stanley Tucci married Emily’s sister Felicity, and is one of the cast members of The Beauty and the Beast reboot with Emma Watson.
